Bandits walk through open door, rob housewife

Two men, one armed with a handgun, broke into a house at Golden Grove, East Bank Demerara and robbed a housewife of over $300,000 in cash and jewellery.

Police in a press release said that around 10 am on Friday last, Kickadai Sookhai, 36, was robbed of $120,000 in jewellery and $195,000 by the two men.

Investigations revealed that Sookhai was in the lower flat of her two-storey home when she was confronted by the suspects who gained entry through a southern door that was open. She was held at gunpoint and taken to the upper flat where the cash and jewellery were. The suspects then tied up Sookhai and made good their escape.
