A teenager was killed yesterday when the motor scooter he was riding crashed head on into a concrete culvert at Crane, West Coast Demerara.

Leon Walton, 19, of Crane Housing Scheme succumbed to the massive head injuries he sustained several hours after the accident.

Stabroek News was informed that around 11am some of the young man’s friends went to his home and aroused him from his bed. Walton later borrowed a friend’s motor scooter and while riding along a road in his home community he lost control and crashed into the concrete structure. He was picked up and rushed to the West Demerara Regional Hospital but was transferred to the Georgetown Hospital because of the injuries he had.

He died while receiving treatment.
