Cart man killed in apparent revenge attack

A horse cart operator was killed yesterday afternoon in what appeared to be a tit-for-tat stabbing at his Lamaha Railway Embankment home.

Mark Gaskin, 44, was stabbed twice and died on his way to the Georgetown Hospital.

According to reports, on Sunday last Gaskin stabbed his girlfriend’s sister during a heated argument. Yesterday, a man, who might be a relative of the injured woman, went to Gaskin’s home and stabbed him twice – in the chest and in the back.

The attacker managed to get away within minutes of committing the act and the police are currently on the hunt for him.

The injured man, bleeding profusely from wounds to the chest and back, was taken to the hospital by a woman.

Stabroek News was told that a piece of cloth was stuffed into the chest wound in an apparent bid to stop the bleeding. Police ranks later held the woman for questioning.

Persons in the area told Stabroek News that they knew the attacker.
