Pick-up to boost city council’s work

The government has donated a service pick-up to the Mayor and City Council (M&CC) to boost its capacity to enforce the city’s by-laws.

A Government Informa-tion Agency (GINA) press release said on Wednesday Minister Kellawan Lall handed over a Nissan 4×4 double-cab pick-up to Town Clerk Beulah Williams in the presence of Mayor Hamilton Green, Deputy Mayor Robert Williams and Permanent Secretary within the Ministry Ganga Persaud at a simple ceremony hosted at the Ministry of Local Govern-ment and Regional Develop-ment. Lall, during the ceremony, said the vehicle will assist the M&CC and the City Constabulary’s ability to enforce the law. Green, in his remarks, commended the minister “for his prolific approach in dealing with matters that concern development in the municipalities.” He also said the gesture should be the catalyst for future engagements and expressed his gratitude. The vehicle was estimated to cost $3.9M.
