Girl, 11, hospitalised after rape

An 11-year-old girl is still a patient at the Skeldon Hospital after she was brutally raped last Saturday by a man who has since been placed in police custody.

Stabroek News learnt that the incident occurred after the girl’s mother sent her to the shop to purchase a bottle of lemonade.

A 27-year-old Tapir conductor, who is likely to be charged this week, reportedly pulled the girl into the Tapir and took her to the Scottsburg beach where he committed the act.

She was left alone on the beach and residents saw her walking home and clutching her stomach. She was also haemorrhaging.

The girl was taken to the police station and then to the hospital.
