Labourer remanded on carnal knowledge charge

Acting Chief Magistrate Cecil Sullivan on Tuesday remanded to prison a man accused of having carnal knowledge of a teenaged girl.

According to the facts of the case Leon Joaquin, 22, a labourer, on January 11, at Georgetown, allegedly had carnal knowledge of a girl under the age of 15.

Police Prosecutor Maxine Graham asked that bail be refused based on the seriousness of the offence and that it was committed against a juvenile.

Joaquin was ordered to appear at Court 6 on January 31.
