Two more Community Development Councils (CDCs) on Friday received government’s support to empower them to improve the standard of living of residents, the Government Information Agency (GINA) reported.

GINA said that Minister of Local Government and Regional Development Kellawan Lall presented a 15 horsepower engine to Karia Karia, a village located on the left bank of the Essequibo River in Region Three. The villagers depend heavily on logging activities.

The other recipient was the Anna Catherina Women’s Group whose members were given a sewing machine and other equipment. Lall stated that “these little gestures are intended to make those communities more viable
