A teenaged boy was yesterday afternoon attacked and stabbed by two other boys as he stood waiting for transportation on the East Bank Demerara public road.

Police have the two boys in custody and they are helping the law enforcement authorities with their investigations.

According to reports reaching Stabroek News, around 3:33 pm the two boys and Deceius Mundo, a 16-year-old student of the Covent Garden Secondary School, EBD had a confrontation during which he was stabbed several times in the back. Police later took the injured student who was bleeding profusely from his wounds to the Georgetown Hospital for medical attention.

Stabroek News was reliably informed that when the child arrived at the medical institution, ranks told medical personnel that two students of the same school had committed the act.

The teenager’s mother Melissa, however, told Stabroek News last evening that it wasn’t students of the school and her son had said that he didn’t know the boys who attacked him.

The woman said that her son was waiting for transportation along with another schoolmate when the boys came up to him. This newspaper was told that Mundo is a boxer at the Agricola gym, which is close to where he lives.

At the time of the incident the fourth form student was dressed in his school uniform and when he arrived at the hospital the back of his shirt and socks were covered with blood.

The lad was given medical attention and was sent home late yesterday afternoon. (Zoisa Fraser)
