Police probing report of grenade thrown

The Guyana Police Force said on Wednesday it retrieved an unexploded grenade that was thrown into an East Bank Demerara yard by unknown persons.

Thirty-two-year-old Kenrick Thomas, a building contractor and part owner of KP Thomas Contracting Company, and his brother Ken Thomas reported that a grenade was hurled into their Lot 30 Public Road, Agricola yard at around 1.15 pm.

The police, in a press release, said the brothers were in the upper flat of their home when they heard the sound of a motorcycle which they said stopped in front of their yard. They said they heard a noise which sounded as if someone had thrown an object against the garage door. The brothers said the motorcycle then rode off and when they investigated they saw the grenade in the yard. Police are carrying out investigations.
