A man who allegedly shot another in the head at the 2005 Main Big Lime was yesterday committed to stand trial in the High Court for the capital offence of murder.

Magistrate Gordon Gilhuys who was conducting the preliminary inquiry into the case handed down his decision to Kevin Anthony called `Bugga Bumps’.

Anthony’s lawyer Steven Daniels was scheduled to present his closing arguments yesterday but declined to do so.

The magistrate later stated that after reviewing all the evidence, the court had ruled that a prima facie case had been made out against Anthony.

He told the accused that his case will be called up at the next sitting of the High Court, which is in April.

It is alleged that on January 2, 2005, Anthony murdered Feroze Alli also known as Feroze Khemrul, who was 25 years old at the time.

When the case was called in the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court on January 25, Anthony was also facing a charge of escape from lawful custody. Several days before his court appearance police arrested him on a robbery under arms allegation.

While on his way to the Brickdam Police Station he escaped.

Wearing a bright yellow shirt and a red string around his left hand, Anthony appeared unmoved by the magistrate’s decision.
