Parkside on the mall

The Parkside Steel Orchestra continues to promote the Steel pan art form tomorrow on the Merriman’s Mall.

Tomorrow’s performance follows a series of appearances which began in November 2006. Previous venues were Church’s Chicken, the Botanical Gardens Bandstand, and the Kingston Seawall Tarmac.

Parkside seeks to promote steel pan and Guyanese culture through these public performances, while at the same time saying thanks to those who support the band, notably Cel Star (U-Mobile) and Demerara Distillers Ltd – El Dorado Brand. The performance will begin at 16:00 hrs and is absolutely free.

The band which was formed in 1999 has since set a high standard for steel pan in Guyana, placing well in local competitions and a commendable second-place in Barbados last year at the Caribbean seven-a-side competition.
