Guyana cocaine prunes shipment held in UK

Custom officers at Coventry Airport, England on Monday discovered 30,000 pounds sterling worth of cocaine hidden inside more than 140 prunes that had arrived from Guyana.

The shipment was destined for Spain.

According to ITN reports out of London, officers at the country’s largest parcel depot in Coventry Airport discovered the cocaine. HM Revenue and Customs said the unusual find at the international hub depot showed the ever innovative methods used by drug gangs.

According to reports, officers found the cocaine wrapped in clear plastic as they prised open each individual piece of fruit. Each of the 143 dried plums contained 4.4 grammes of the class A drug, totalling well over half a kilo. The report stated that no arrest has yet been made into the find but investigations are continuing.
