Carpens/Spready’s U-19 cricket tourney

Rose Hall Town Pepsi recorded a thrilling two-run victory to edge Young Achievers in the final of the Carpens Plumbing and Spready’s Bakery under-19 cricket tournament at the Albion Community Development Centre ground recently.

Needing 208 to win, Young Achievers were left stranded on 205-9 from their allotted overs. Rose Hall, batting first, had posted 207-6 in the allotted 50 overs of the match.

Murphy LaRose led the way with the bat for Rose Hall scoring 62 not out while Sadiz Kudrath, was not out on 30.

Young Achievers’ off-spinner, Asij Khan took 3-35.

Dillon Morris top scored with 75 for Young Achievers as off-spinners Troy Mathieson and LaRose took two wickets apiece for 23 and 26 runs respectively.

Rose Hall Town Pepsi received $30,000 and the Carpens trophy for their effort while Young Achievers got $20,000. Morris got the ‘Man-of-the- Match’ and ‘Best Batsman’ awards while Asiz Mohamed copped the ‘Best Bowler’ award.
