Continental Cycle Club has first female president

History was created on Saturday when members of the Continental Cycle Club unanimously elected a female president for the club.

Cheryl Thompson, secretary of the Guyana Cycling Federation, became the first female in the history of the local sport to be elected president.

The other executives that were elected at the club’s Annual General Meeting are: Neil Fraser (first vice-president), Ian Hercules (second vice-president), Desmond Van Cooten (third vice-president) Gemma Williams (secretary), Mark McIntosh (treasurer) and Denroy Livan (oganising secretary).

The committee members are: Cheryl Matthews, Judy Bhagwandin, Dennis Bhagwandin and Kevin Jones.

Warren McKay has been named club captain.
