Ascension, Dolphin, St John’s and Tutorial advance

Carl Rambarose turned in an outstanding all-round performance as Tutorial High School trounced Christ Church Secondary in one of four quarter-final matches of the Ministry of Education/Guyana Cricket Board/National Sport Commission competition played yesterday.

Rambarose hit 84 (11 fours and one six) and then bagged 8-23 as Tutorial defeated Christ Church secondary by the whopping margin of 164 runs at the Police Sports Complex ground at Eve Leary.

Kevin Lander also scored 84 with 10 fours, while Damien De Abreu struck six fours in 36 and Mark Critchlow chipped in with 23 as Tutorial scored 265 for five in 35 overs.

Christ Church were skittled out for 107 in 21.1 overs. Fredrick Pestano top scored with 28 including five fours.

At the Demerara Cricket Club ground, Ascension Community High School defeated St Winefride’s by five wickets.

St Winefride’s won the toss and were bowled out for 106 in 21.5 overs with Reyaad Zaman top scoring with 25.

Dexter Solomon picked up 5-22 and Travis Walton grabbed 3-7, while Devon Smith claimed 2-18 bowling for Ascension who responded by knocking off the runs in 20.1 overs for the loss of five wickets.

Solomon made it a solid all-round performance scoring 55 not out laced with eight fours. Travis Walton chipped in with 20.

At the Everest Cricket Club ground, St John’s High School beat St Joseph High School by 59 runs.

St John’s won the toss, batted and scored 216 for seven off 40 overs.

Ishmael Ali top scored with 56 (4×4), while Rawle Hutson scored 37 and Daniel Dookie and Tyrone Chetram each scored 28. Jason Cush claimed 3-24 bowling for St Joseph who, in reply, scored 157 for nine with a player retiring hurt.

Mark Waithe was the top sorer with 56 including three fours while Godfrey Best contributed 30.

Dookie picked up 4-38 and Hutson claimed 2-15 bowling for the victors.

At the Malteenoes Sports Club ground, Dolphin Government School defeated St Stanislaus College by seven wickets.

St Stanislaus batted first and were bowled out for 106 in 26 overs.

Orlando Williams picked up 4-25 bowling for Dolphin who responded by knocking off the runs in 19 overs. Delon Fernandes struck ten fours top scoring with 64.
