The Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club launched the Ramnaresh Sarwan Education and Sports Trust Fund for the less fortunate primary and secondary school students in the Lower Corentyne area.

The West Indies vice captain together with the club’s educational campaign would be funding the Trust.

A total of fifteen students would each receive a financial grant to be used to purchase uniforms, footwear and educational materials to encourage them to stay in school and obtain an education.

The head teacher of Rose Hall Primary, Port Mourant Primary and Junior High, Lower Corentyne, JC Chandisingh and Corentyne Comprehensive will select the awardees on the basis of income, interest in sport and discipline.

Stanley Alexander, office manager of the RHTY&SC, said the Guyana skipper was delighted to sponsor the fund for needy students to the tune of $200,000 because he feels education is the key to success.
