‘King’ Andrew in new machine

The Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club will hold the first stage of the 2007 National Championship Series next Sunday at the South Dakota Circuit. Sixteen Events are carded for the meeting which will see a three-man team from the USA and one driver from Canada competing.

The meeting will also see veteran racer Andrew King taking to the track in a brand new Third Generation Mazda RX7. Sunday’s meeting is being sponsored by GT&T, Banks DIH Limited and Skyline Mortgage of the USA. Club President Vishook Persaud disclosed that Team USA will include Khem Lall (Mazda RX7) Joe Mohan (Toyota MR2) and John Joseph (Honda Civic Turbo). Lall will compete in Group Three alongside King, Mark Vieira, Andrew Morgan and others, while Joseph and Mohan will track down the Group Two B category. In addition, several super bikes will take to the circuit as Gregory Lopes, Andy Rajkaran and Stephen Vieira battle it out. Father and son Kevin and Kristian Jeffery will battle it out in the category set aside for 125cc Shifter Go Karts. Robert Hiscock and Shane Ali are also included in that category.

The upcoming meeting comes on the heels of a successful Drag Race competition held there recently and organized by the club.
