NAACIE welcomes Linden bauxite deal

The National Association of Agricultural, Commercial and Industrial Employees (NAACIE) has congratulated the government and BOSAI on the deal for the bauxite company at Linden as the continuation of operations is important to the country.

In a press release NAACIE said the sale of the company owned by IAMGOLD was done through an agreement by Cambior subsidiary Omai Bauxite Mining Incorporated. The union said this development must be monitored by citizens to ensure that they will eventually be able to earn a better standard of living from the materials. NAACIE is pleased that BOSAI was willing to take over 70% of shares in the industry and work in partnership with the government to the benefit of all stakeholders. NAACIE called on all stakeholders to work together to safeguard this resource as these developments will bring more employment to the area.

The union also said it is looking forward to the exploration of the Block 37 reserves as was agreed to by the BOSAI group and IAMGOLD. NAACIE also said it is interested in the improvement of the quality of the base products RASC and MAZ and plans to add value to them by installing an aluminium plant. It also said it is important to maintain Omai Services Incorporated which has replaced the Linden Power Company in supplying power to Linden.
