The Forbes Burnham Foundation is hosting an anniversary lecture today at 5 pm at City Hall in honour of the 84th birth anniversary of former president L.F.S. Burnham.

In a press release, the non-profit foundation said this will be the first Forbes Burnham Anniversary Lecture and will be delivered by Brigadier (ret’d) David Granger. The introduction will be given by Mr Elvin Mc David, patron of the foundation and the welcome by Mr Robert Williams, Deputy Mayor of Georgetown.

In a release the foundation said it was established with a view to promote and implement the political, economic, social and cultural ideas of former president Burnham. It hopes to achieve this objective by among other things researching, producing, publishing and disseminating information on Burnham.

The recently released book Forbes Burnham: National Reconciliation and National Unity 1984-1985 by Halim Majeed will be on sale at a special price of $1,500.

The foundation is also sponsoring an under-16 football competition.
