The publisher of the pocket-sized Guyana guide book Guyana-Where and What says the response from the business community has been good and is urging more entities to take advantage of the publication.

A press release from General Executive Management Services Inc (GEMS Inc) said the book is the first of its kind to be published in Guyana targeted to tourists and other visitors. It is scheduled to be launched by the third week in March in anticipation of the influx of visitors expected for Cricket World Cup. Ten thousand copies of the book will be printed, in full colour, and its “pocket” size will make it easy to carry around and for quick reference. A 16×12-inch Georgetown road map will also be inserted in the centre of the book.

Publisher Gem Madhoo-Nascimento encourages businesses especially restaurants, fast food outlets, taxis, car rentals, hotels, tourist resorts, tour operators, craft shops, jewellery shops, boutiques, banks, cambios, bars, night clubs, internet cafes, cell phone shops, beauty parlours, spas and massage parlours to take advantage of this publication.

The book will direct visitors to what’s going on in the country, what’s available and where to find it, thus providing them with the information needed for an enjoyable and memorable visit. “It will be distributed freely at the airport, hotel resorts, restaurants and all advertisers,” the release said.

The release also said advertising rates are reasonably priced and interested businesses can contact their advertising agencies or GEMS Inc at telephone numbers 624-8694, 226-0240, 225-3557 or at email address gems@gol.net.gy for more information. The deadline for advertising is Monday.
