Man allegedly had ganja in custody, more at home

A man who allegedly had cannabis at his home when the police conducted a search was yesterday refused bail by Acting Chief Magistrate Cecil Sullivan at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.

Worren Parks, 34, of 62 Bent Street, Wortmanville pleaded not guilty to possession of narcotics and possession of the drug for trafficking.

It is alleged that on February 17 at Georgetown he had 6 grammes of cannabis in his possession. When police conducted a search of his home an additional 106 grammes of cannabis were found.

Police prosecutor Sherwin Matthews told the court that Parks was in custody when a search was carried out on his person and the six grammes were found. They then went to his home and found the larger amount.

The case is to continue in Court Three on Tuesday.
