Four for Qaseeda final in Trinidad

Four persons have won the right to represent Guyana in Trinidad next month at the finals of the Qaseeda competition.

According to a press release from the Central Islamic Organisation of Guyana (CIOG) the semi-final leg of the competition was divided into four categories. Shamir Khan, from Belvedere, Corentyne, Berbice won in the senior male category while Enmore’s Ejaz Waqar Hatim won in the junior level of competition. And, Zameerol Neisha won in the senior female category while Shabana Persaud won in the junior level. The CIOG said many prizes were won in all of the categories which were judged by an experienced panel.

The CIOG said the contest was hosted on Sunday in association with the Anjuman Hifazatul Islam and the Muslim Youth Organisation (MYO) Commerce in the MYO’s Woolford Avenue auditorium. It also said the finals will be hosted over the Easter weekend and the winners are expected to compete with representatives from the host country as well as from Suriname and the USA.
