Marketing Assistant of Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL) Dexter Seaton on Thursday handed over the trophy to President of the Kennard’s Memorial Turf Club (KMTF) Justice Cecil Kennard for the feature race carded on Monday.

The C-Lower race sponsored exclusively by DDL will be run off as the feature horse race at the Phagwah horse race meeting on Monday hosted by KMTF at the Bush Lot Farm ground, Corentyne, Berbice from 1:30pm.

Justice Kennard expressed his sincere thanks on behalf of the club to DDL for giving their sponsorship and added that he would look forward to their continuous support.

In response, Seaton said that they have been with the club for 30 years and usually sponsors the event every year. He added that DDL will continue to contribute to such races.

The company donated $300,000 for the race, including prize money, trophy and printing of programmes.

Meanwhile, Races carded for the day’s events include G-Lower, L W/A, F and Lower, three-year-old, J and Lower, C-Lower and I and Lower races.

Top horses like Isle Betrue, Stop in the Lion, Ice Folly, Sequin, Spin and Squeeze, little Panie, Sofire, Simply Royal, Rea Pele, Sir Balajie and Matterazi will be taking part in those races.

Justice Cecil Kennard told Stabroek Sport that each winner will receive a trophy. Additionally there will be prizes for the Champion Jockey, Most Improved Jockey and the Champion Trainer. The Champion Jockey’s trophy will be donated by Trophy Stall.
