Rio journalists using conference centre

Accredited foreign journalists last night flocked the Guyana International Conference Centre (GICC) at Turkeyen on the eve of the Summit of the Rio Group Meeting and minor hiccups with the toilets have been rectified.

General Manager of the GICC, Jagdish Sukhu told Stabroek News last evening that the problems with the toilets have been addressed and that all is well in preparation for the Summit today, the culmination of the 19th Rio Group Meeting.

A visit to the facility last evening revealed that many journalists were using the media centre and other facilities provided. Many of them were accessing the wireless internet provided on the facility. The environs seemed spruced up and there was some artwork signage done outside the GICC. Flags of the Rio Group member states have been hoisted and flap proudly in the Atlantic breeze.
