Four teams recorded victories when play in the Chico Sweets/Smalta Cup National Inter-Secondary Schools Futsal Tournament continued on Friday at the National Gymnasium.
St. Mary’s Secondary trashed St. Stanislaus College 7-0, North Georgetown Secondary beat South Ruimveldt Secondary 3-1, Kingston CHS edged Sophia Special School 3-2 and Golden Grove CHS piped Covent Gardens 2-1.
Five Players registered doubles while one recorded a hat-trick during the day’s seven-match programme.
Maxi Nelson (9th and 16th), Andre Eastman (12th and 14th), Colin Richiel (1st and 7th) and Randy Phyll (13th) accounted for St. Mary’s seven goals.
Dellon Cadogan (8th), Simon Chetram (12th and Travis Giddens (18th) were on target for North Georgetown while Kevin DeBarros (15th netted the lone goal for South Ruimveldt.
Darren Harris 2nd), Jmal Washington (12th) and Ray Rowland (19th) were on target for Kingston CHS against Sophia while the latter’s goals came off the boots of Terrence Gordon and Colin Bovell in the 8th and 16th minutes respectively.
Golden Grove’s goals were scored by Keoma Sullivan (3rd) and Deon Giddens (15th) while Yohance Roberts tucked in Covent Garden’s lone goal two minutes from regulation time.
Jamal Downer (17th, 19th and 20th) netted the lone hat-trick of the tournament to date as Mahaicony Secondary came from behind to ear a 4-4 draw against David Rose CHS whose goals were scored by Mark Welch (14th and 15th), Akine Callender (4th) and Jamal Jordon (18th). Mannick Lewis netted the other goal for Mahaicony Secondary in the 8th minute.
Anthony Benfield and Mickel Hamilton in the 4th and 11th minutes accounted for Plaisance’s two goals enroute to a 2-2 draw against Campbellville Secondary whose two goals came off the boots of Robert Benn (13th) and Richie Richards (18th).
Richard Ishmael Secondary and Education Trust battled to an exciting 3-3 draw.
Scoring for Richard Ishmael were Stevemar Critchlow (3rd and 16th) and Jamal Patterson (5th) while Keithon Nelson (2nd and 11th) and Alex Murray (13th) replied for Education Trust. Meanwhile, on Thursday, Seon Peter bagged five goals in his team’s (St. John’s College) 6-2 win against President’s College.
Peter found his target in the 6th, 7th, 9th, 12th and 17th minutes, while his team mate Ordel Clark scored the other goal.
For President’s College, Joel O’Selmo opened the scoring 24 seconds into the game while Kevon Sampson scored the team’s other goal one minute before regulation time.
On Thursday also, Richard Ishmael, Christ Church Secondary and Central High registered victories over School of the Nations, Queenstown CHS and St. Joseph’s High respectively. Richard Ishmael won by a 1-0 margin while Christ Church and Central High both recorded 2-1 margin of victories.
