Caricom has signed a cooperation agreement on International Humanitarian Law with the International Committee for the Red Cross (ICRC) that will facilitate the promotion and development of humanitarian laws and principles within the Community.

A press release from the Caricom Secretariat said Secretary-General Edwin Carrington, at a short ceremony held for the signing of the Cooperation and Consultation Agreement, said it is fitting that the agreement urges the promotion of international humanitarian law, principles and standards in Caricom. He said this was in keeping with founder Henry Dunant’s dream for “the creation of relief societies in each country
