The stage is set for the Camptown Football Club grassroots, four-team tournament which kicks off Saturday at the Camptown ground.

Secretary of the club Lester Sealey told Stabroek Sport yesterday that the aim of the tournament was to unearth new talent in the Campbellville, Sophia areas as a means of strengthening the club’s player base.

Two teams each from the above two areas will participate in the Cellink Plus sponsored tournament which has at stake cash incentives, trophies and other prizes.

Sealey informed Stabroek Sport yesterday that Camptown’s senior team captain Troy Prescod has been debarred from participating in the tournament.

Sealey also reported that a clean-up campaign of the ground and its surroundings is underway as the club seeks to improve its image in an effort to accommodate the staging of more competitions.

Meanwhile, a combination of past and present senior and veteran players took on the current Camptown senior line-up yesterday from 4pm in a friendly engagement. The winning team yesterday received two cases of Guinness Stout compliments of the Guinness Bar.
