How are these families being allowed to build on land reserved for August Street?

Dear Editor,

We write concerning two lands which are left for a roadway between Sam Hinds Drive and Mitchell Street, B Field, Pattensen, Turkeyen same being named August Street.

When the area was surveyed, there was a family living on one side of the land. However, the housing ministry moved that family and placed them on someone else’s land just a house away from the road.

A couple of years after that family was moved from the roadway two other families decided to build on each side of the land left for the road and the housing ministry broke those houses stating that no one was permitted to live on the lands reserved for August Street.

Now in the year 2007 two other families are building on August Street and nobody at the housing ministry is saying anything.

1. How come these people are building on the road?

2. Were the lands allocated to these new families? If so, why couldn’t the ministry call the previous families who were building on the land to rebuild their homes? Those people are still living in rented houses.

3. What would be the lot numbers for the people now occupying the road?

4. Will these people pay for the lands?

August Street is being used by residents to attend church on Mitchell Street. It is a great help for us to have a street (short cut) there.

Our other concerns are the electricity and water. Some residents are using illegal electricity. When the GPL crew cuts off the illegal wires from the post in the morning, the same are replaced at night by children.

We paid for water and cannot get same in our yards.

Yours faithfully,

Yonnette Gentle, R. Persaud, Mike Johnson, Samantha Liverpool, Andre Jordan, K. Clifton and O. Singh
