Two cousins who admitted that they broke into the home of another man and stole items were remanded to prison yesterday at the Leonora Magistrate’s Court pending sentencing.

According to the facts on the case, on February 4, Delon Abrams, 18, and Devon Abrams, 20, both of 29 Crane Housing Scheme, West Coast Demerara broke into the New Road, Vreed-en-Hoop home of Andrew Peters and stole three bottles of cologne, a gold bracelet, a web camera, a cellular phone, a pair of gloves, a wristwatch, a headphone, a notebook, seven bubble bath bottles, a Brut aftershave, a phone charger and $6,000 cash, with a total value of $76,300, the property of the complainant. They were arrested and charged after police investigations.

Police Prosecutor Jacqueline Skinner told the court that one of the defendants, Delon Abrams is known to the police for committing offences of a similar nature. She stated that on the day in question the Virtual Complainant (VC) had gone to church and had returned home for a VCR when he noticed the duo coming out of the yard. She said that upon entering his home he found it ransacked and the items were gone.

The duo while admitting to the offence stated that they would like to repay the VC.

After listening to them the magistrate remanded them to prison pending sentencing next Thursday at the Leonora Magistrate’s Court.
