Reis rules the roost

Neil Reis ruled the roost when the Flying Ace Cycle Club staged its Annual 20-mile Mountain Bike and six-mile BMX Road Races for cyclists in Berbice recently.

According to a release, Reis won both the mountain bike and BMX races. He recorded 41 minutes 20 seconds to win the Mountain Bike category.

The event saw Tony Affonso finishing second in the mountain bike category, while Shaka Rowe placed third and Dellon Collins fourth. In the 12-14 years BMX category, Devon DeJonge was second.

The 6-9 years BMX category was won by Rajesh Hanoman. Shameer Karim was second and Antonious DeJonge third.

Ravindra Karim won the BMX 9-12 years age group. Of the three prime prizes that were up for gabs in the 20-mile race, Reis won two and Devon DeJonge one.

Reis used the event as a preparation for the Annual Cheddi Jagan Memorial Road Race which is slated for March 18 in Berbice.The event was sponsored jointly by Ricks and Sari Agro Industries, Boskalis, Republic Bank, Guiness Bar, Food Time Restaurant, Bajnauth Sawmills and Civil Works.
