A mother is now in police custody after her 18-month-old baby who was reportedly left alone at home with his 14-year-old aunt fell to his death from stairs at the family’s Section ‘A’ Non Pareil, East Coast Demerara home late yesterday.

Travis Walters was last evening rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital by his grandmother Seekuniane Samaroo but was pronounced dead by the doctor on duty at the emergency room.

Stabroek News understands that the child’s aunt alerted his grandmother after he had fallen and she rushed him to the hospital.

This newspaper understands too that the child’s mother was immediately contacted and told of the incident and was taken into police custody.
