GWI installed 44,500 meters

The Guyana Water Incorporated has installed 44,500 water meters around the country.

Minister of Housing and Water, Harrynarine Nawbatt, responding via a written reply to questions about the status of the meters from PNCR-1G MP Volda Lawrence, has also revealed that 39,368 meters are functional, while the remainder has been deemed non-operational because of technical breakdowns, blockages or disconnection for non payment of bills. He said that in cases where meters are non-operational, due to technical breakdown or blockages, customers are billed on fixed charges tariffs.
