The UK High Commission said from Monday it will only be accepting online visa applications.

According to a press release, visa applications for the United Kingdom, the British Virgin Islands and all other overseas territories must be submitted online at the website located at www.visa4uk.fco.gov.uk. The change is aimed at improving the standard of service provided to customers, the release said, and can be completed in three steps: complete, save, print and submit the form located at the website, make an appointment at www.visappointments.fco. gov.uk, go to the Visa Section at the time of the appointment with the signed and completed printout of the online application form, the printout of the confirmation of the appointment, and supporting documents (guidance on what documentation persons should provide is available at www.ukvisas.gov.uk). Applicants should provide copies of any documents they wish to be returned.

The High Commission said its new policy is not to allow in any applicant who does not have both the confirmation of their online appointment and a signed copy of their online application. It is also reminding applicants that Visa Entry Clearance fees are non-refundable and that the onus is on the applicant to submit adequate documentation in support of their application. The release said applicants who do not provide full documentation should be aware that their application may be refused. Also, in order to facilitate the change-over, the release said, the Visa Section will be closed tomorrow. This is necessary to upgrade the equipment the release said.
