Scotiabank Guyana has commissioned a mural at the Everest Cricket Club ground as a gift to Guyanese in celebration of the Cricket World Cup.

In a press release Country Manager Ian Cooper said “This is a historical moment for Guyana and the Caribbean” and that the bank had commissioned the gift in recognition of Scotiabank’s commitment to Guyana at this historic cricket moment. The mural, created by artist Michael Naemsch, is “a visual display of the pride and joy that we all share, in cricket, in Guyana and in the West Indies.”

The release said as the mural is a permanent art piece, “it was a challenge to find the right artist who understands cricket and the pride and lifestyle of the Caribbean. Naemsch spends half his time in Barbados and half in Canada, a unique combination considering Scotiabank’s Canadian-West Indies ties. In addition Naemsch’s wife and business partner Rosemary and her family are native Bajans. The bank said cricket is not just a sport in the West Indies, but a passion that unites people across the region and it is proud to support the ICC Cricket World Cup 2007.
