Albouystown roads fixed to ease Lombard St congestion

Several Albouystown thoroughfares have been given a facelift under the government’s enhancement programme for the city.

A press release from the Government Information Agency (GINA) said Hogg, James and Drysdale streets have been upgraded while works are ongoing at Sussex, Campbell, Garnett, Albert and King Edward streets. The Ministry of Public Works and Communications in collaboration with the Mayor and City Council is filling potholes and resurfacing roads in the area, road shoulders and drains are also being cleared of garbage and other impediments.

Ministry engineer David Merrill said the improved roadways are intended to reduce the traffic burden on Lombard Street. Motorists are urged to traverse these roadways. Residents expressed appreciation for the ongoing improvements, particularly the road works. Orlando Kyte said the repairs done to Sussex Street will enhance his business activities which had been hindered because of the condition of the road.

GINA is also urging residents to desist from throwing garbage into drains and to maintain clean communities.
