Has the West Indies team really lost it?

Dear Editor,

I must say the days of playing real cricket seems to be a thing of the past now. I was so disappointed the way our “boys” played. I just could not believe that I was looking at world class cricket. What has happened to the spirit of the game? Has the West Indies team really lost it? Perhaps it’s time to look for new blood, with new spirit.

Looking at the sparse attendance at the stadium in Antigua, I have to agree with every word of Vidyaratha Kissoon’s letter captioned, “Couldn’t comfortable shaded seats have been provided”. It just goes to show what and who the ICC is catering for. The Guyanese working class surely cannot afford the exorbitant prices for sitting in the shade; the government should be taking care of that aspect and should have made provision for its citizens. They have failed them.

It is shameful that only the so-called ‘high class’ can attend our national sport and sit in comfort. What are we coming to as a nation? Is it all about money and power? When will we begin to see otherwise?

Yours faithfully,

M Bose
