Bandits rob man of $1.8M

Armed robbers made off with $1.8M in cash after an ambush in the city on Friday.

Police said on Saturday that it is believed that the two men who carried out the armed robbery on Ronald Ashby had followed him from a city bank. Ashby was robbed of $1,816,000 in cash just outside his office at Joseph Pollydore Street, Lodge. The robbers also relieved him of a cheque in the amount of $115,000.

Ashby is employed by Frank Quallis. Police said he had just returned from the bank and was about to enter his office when the suspects confronted him and robbed him. They escaped in a waiting car that was parked a short distance away. Investigations are still ongoing.
