Police hold two men for Brickdam robbery

Two men were held on Saturday in connection with the recent robbery at the Buddy’s International office on Brickdam.

On March 16, three men armed with guns committed the robbery while pretending to be customers.

Police said on Saturday that the arrests were made after they conducted raids in the city and its environs early that morning. The man had one of the stolen .32 Taurus pistols, 17 live .32 rounds and two bullet-proof vests in their possession.

The men walked into the office and said they were there to do business before robbing Company Secretary Meena Mookram of $40,000, a Taurus .32 pistol and 22 rounds of matching ammunition.

Security guard Prince Edwards was relieved of a .32 Taurus pistol and 11 rounds of ammunition. Edwards put up a fight and was shot in the left thigh as a result. The men then fled the building. Edwards was treated at the Georgetown Public Hospital and sent away.

Police said charges would be laid shortly, but investigations were still continuing.
