Commonwealth Business Council to meet today

In preparation for the Commonwealth Finance Ministers Meeting (CFMM) which officially opens this evening senior finance officials will meet this morning followed by a Commonwealth Business Council/World Bank Debt-Shadow Ratings meeting at the Guyana International Conference Centre.

Meanwhile preparatory talks continued between Finance Minister Dr Ashni Singh and Deputy Secretary General of the Commonwealth Ransford Smith at the Guyana International Conference Centre, Liliendaal, Greater Georgetown yesterday.

Dr Singh is also scheduled to meet with Commonwealth Central Bank Governors today.

Meanwhile, the opening ceremony of the CFMM, which is being held under the theme ‘Climate Change: The Challenges Facing Finance Ministers,’ will feature a cultural presentation at the National Cultural Centre.

Shortly after the opening ceremony President Bharrat Jagdeo will host a reception at State House for members of delegations and special invitees.

According to GINA, the Commonwealth Business Council will host a breakfast meeting tomorrow while a plenary session will be held at the Guyana International Conference Centre (GICC), Liliendaal, Greater Georgetown.
