Woman stabbed on Sept 10 dies -man to be charged with murder

A man is to be charged shortly with the murder of a woman after she died in the hospital on Saturday.

A police press release said that Wilson Chan, 57, of Industry, East Coast Demerara will shortly be charged with the murder of 42-year-old Loretta Ramoutar of First Alley, Wismar.

Chan was earlier charged with the attempted murder of Ramoutar after he had allegedly stabbed her about her abdomen and other parts of her body during an argument at her home on September 10. He had appeared in court on September 18 and was remanded to prison. Ramoutar had been admitted to the Georgetown Public Hospital where she died last Saturday.
