Climate change is turning out to be the most difficult economic issue the world has had to deal with and to combat it effectively economic growth will have to be shared equitably among developed and developing nations of the world.

This is the view of Sunita Narain, Chairperson of the Centre for Science and Environment in India and the keynote speaker on climate change at the Commonwealth Ministers of Finance Meeting being held at the Guyana International Conference Centre.

Speaking to delegates during the second plenary session yesterday, Narain said that climate change is heading towards catastrophic proportions and that there is the need for something drastic to be done. “The time for fiddling around is gone,” she emphasised, pointing out that the issue of climate change is linked to economic growth. “We have to take the issue very seriously
