The businessman who was attacked by two pit bulls while he was jogging near Well Road, West Ruimveldt earlier this month has been discharged from hospital but he still cannot use his hands.

Stabroek News was told that Lennox Wade was discharged from the Georgetown Public Hospital where he underwent two surgeries to fix his mauled hands, last Thursday.

Although the scrapes and punctures on his feet, legs, back and neck have healed, the same cannot be said for his hands which were chewed down to the bone.

He has since been told that he needs to go abroad for further medical attention and he had indicated to this newspaper that plans are underway to do so.

And because of the state of his hands the 57-year-old North Ruimveldt resident is unable to do anything for himself. Some of the fingers on one of his hands are numb while he cannot raise the other hand at all.

Just after 5 am on October 1, Wade, who is a gold miner and a furniture manufacturer, was attacked by two pit bulls while jogging in the vicinity of Well Road in North Ruimveldt.

After about thirteen minutes of calling for help while the dogs were mauling him, a woman living nearby threw a bucket of water on the ferocious animals. Wade was later rushed to the George-town Public Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery and was admitted.

Following the incident, Vilton Bourne of Well Road, North Ruimveldt admitted ownership of the animals and later appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.
