The Lions Club of Central Demerara on Thursday donated a quantity of medical supplies for diabetic patients to the Ministry of Health.

A press release said the items consisted of insulin needles which one of the lions purchased overseas. Chairman of Health within the Demerara Lions Ishmael Bacchus handed over the items to Minister Dr Leslie Ramsammy following a meeting on health issues.

President of the Demerara Lions Dwarka Singh and Secretary Lionel Chinian and President of the Guyana Chest Society Dr Moti Lall also attended the meeting.

The team said the donation was inspired by the Lion’s motto ‘Sight first’ as persons affected by diabetes are at risk of becoming blind.
