Accused airport cocaine trafficker remanded

A man who allegedly had over two kilogrammes of cocaine at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport, Timehri was remanded to prison when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

Ramday Ramotaur pleaded not guilty to a charge of trafficking in narcotics and was remanded to prison by Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton.

It is alleged that last Saturday at the CJIA, Timehri, he trafficked in narcotics by trying to export 2.727 kilogrammes of cocaine.

Attorney-at-law Humkumchand appeared for him and requested an early date.

The magistrate then remanded Ramotaur and transferred the matter to the Providence Magistrate’s Court for November 12.
