The Food for the Poor (FFTP) organization recently presented 50 combination chairs and other items to the Lachmansingh Primary School at Bush Lot, West Berbice, as part of its drive to assist in the education sector.

Headmistress Constance Mc Calmont expressed gratitude to the NGO for the items which include a quantity of text books, work books, stationery and vegetable seeds.

She assured that the items are being put to the best use.

The headmistress told Stabroek News that the school had also benefited from a few sewing machines from the organization. She encouraged parents to come in and “make full use of the machines while you learn and share your skills with others free of cost.”

According to her, “We also got a start [from FFTP] to set up a soup kitchen for the school where we provide a balanced diet to the students.”

Mc Calmont, a member of one of the FFTP committees of Region Five said too that she qas thankful for the beds and stoves that were recently presented “to needy families in the community and we look forward to the continued support
