Armed robber draws four-year jail term

Magistrate Krishendat Persaud sentenced a man to four years imprisonment after he admitted to a charge of two counts of robbery under arms when he appeared before him at the Springlands Court on Thursday.

On June 17, Navin Busgith, 25 of Black Bush Polder robbed Ayube Mohamed and Nazima Shabadeen of a quantity of gold jewellery.

The two were at the Number 63 Beach when Busgith stuck them up with a gun and relieved them of the items.

He was sentenced to two years in jail for each offence to run consecutively.

Meanwhile, a 30-year-old man who was slapped with a charge of simple larceny pleaded guilty to the offence and was sentenced to an 18-month jail term.

The court heard that on October 27, Safraz “Bullo” Asgar, 30 of Number 79 Village stole four DVD players from businessman, Nadir Hussain.
