Cheddi Jagan essay competition

Persons are invited to submit entries to an essay competition being held in observance of the 60th anniversary of the entry of Dr Cheddi Jagan to parliament by the Cheddi Jagan Research Committee.

According to the committee the competition is being held under the theme ‘Discuss the contribution of Dr Cheddi Jagan in the Struggle for the Liberation of Guyana.’ Entries should be a minimum of 1500 words.

A panel will judge the competition and the winner will receive $100,000; the second prize is $50,000 while the third place winner will receive a trip to Kaieteur Falls. There will also be ten consolation prizes.

The closing date for entries is January 15, 2008 and all entries should be sent to Dudley Kishore, archivist of the research centre.
