Over the last week police have made a further 1,648 cases against defaulting motorists as zero tolerance enforcement of traffic laws continues across the country.

Police in a press statement said that speeding was the most prevalent offence with some 220 cases made. Additionally 150 cases were made against motorists for overloaded minibuses and 124 for obstruction.

A total of 201 cases were made for unlighted motor vehicles and unlighted bicycles and 62 motorists will be charged for failure to confirm to traffic signs.
