Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery of the body of a man at the Westbury foreshore on the Essequibo Coast.

According to reports, the body of Terrence Marks of Westbury, was found at the foreshore around 06:50 hrs yesterday. Sources say relatives, who had launched a search for him, found Marks’s body. Stabroek News was told that on Sunday, Marks, who is a known alcoholic, left his home without saying where he was going. After relatives did not see him return that evening, they began searching the area for him.

This newspaper understands that relatives decided to search the seashore since he was known for frequenting that area. Reports are that Marks’ body was found between some rocks fully clothed with no visible marks of violence except for abrasions above the left eye. Immediately after the man’s body was found police were called to the scene and the body was removed. A post mortem is expected to be performed on Marks’s remains some time later in the week as investigations are ongoing.
