Laparkan Shipping and the University of Guyana’s Tain Campus have entered into an agreement where the university will receive books and other teaching materials from the US at a reduced cost.

According to a press release, the agreement provides for the transport and receipt of parcels such as research materials for staff and faculty, from Miami once a week to the campus. It also provides for the university to pick up the reduced transport/shipping cost for each staff/faculty in order to allow them easier access to the said materials from North American sources.

At the formal signing of the agreement Director at the Berbice Campus Dr Parsram Thakur said the faculty and staff were grateful for Laparkan’s generosity. Laparkan Regional Director Shri Khirodhar said the company was pleased to be a part of this venture. He said he hopes that the facilities would assist the campus in maintaining and improving its academic standards.

The release said Shipping Manager at the company’s regional office, Dharmendra, the university’s faculty, staff and students also attended the ceremony.
